Henry the Scientist

Did you know Henry takes after his father.....such a little scientist....note his keen powers of observation.......

well......

maybe we'll wait until next summer to enroll him in science camp............

Teepees and Pudding Jars

I've been planning out this teepee for a long time, but it is finally a reality!  After the last ridiculous tree-downing storm we weathered I sent Chris out on a quest for "straight" tree branches for my posts.  Grandma Reintjes was kind enough to donate some fabric but it ended up not being quite long enough so I used a couple of painters drop cloths instead--some twine, a little elastic, and ribbon later and voila!

It's not exactly straight, the sides aren't exactly even and the flaps don't exactly close but the boys don't seem to care!

We also surprised Daddy with an early Father's Day present....banana pudding in a jar!  Well six jars to be exact......I don't particularly care for this dessert so I've never made it before, but Chris loves it so I finally broke down and made some.  He said it was the best banana pudding he's ever had!  I found the recipe here if you're interested :)  I saw the jar presentation idea recently and I thought it was super cute....of course the one I saw looked much more, shall we say...put together......oh well, Chris was just excited to have his very own pudding to go!

Summer Fun

We've been settling in to our new summer routine here and we've made a list of all of the things we want to do this year!  We are already well on our way to summer of fun............

We've been frequenting our local splashpad.  Luckily David's head is finally large enough to prevent him from  squeezing through a small gap and escaping the chain link fence and running free.......As you can see he thoroughly enjoys himself in this water wonderland......this is probably more of a weekly occurrence than a one time event!

Strawberries are for Eating

Yesterday we went yardsale-ing and then to a local farm to pick some strawberries.  Well ten minutes before we were going to leave I turned the corner to find this.........

I know, precious.....but do I let them sleep or wake them up to hit the sales?  Five minutes later we were in the car on our way to a fancy community yardsale where I found the motherload of cute boys clothing for 25 cents a piece!  Apparently their boys don't play quite as rough as mine because it was all in perfect condition--especially the jeans--I can't imagine boys who can outgrow a pair of jeans without putting holes in the knees!  Of course that meant that Henry fell asleep in the car on the way to the farm so Chris stayed with him while I took David on our berry quest....

His interest in berry picking lasted about ten minutes and then he spotted the farmer's truck and decided he wanted to try and take it for a spin.  Luckily he wasn't tall enough to get in but I was able to pick a lot of berries next to the truck while he circled it, trying to find a way up into the back.

We probably didn't get the best of the best strawberries since David kept wanting to run up and down the rows and didn't want to stop in the best patches for me to gather up the goods....Oh well, he did really well all things considered and now he has a budding understanding of where food comes from.....or at least where strawberries come from.....

David gave the berries we picked his stamp of approval though.  I found several half-eaten berries in our box--for some reason he only wanted one bite of each berry before adding his contribution to the pile......

And here's a little Henry cuteness for good measure.....this is how he likes to ride these days......

When Daddy's in Charge....

You never know what you might walk in on when Daddy's in charge.  This weekend I found this......

Don't worry it's empty.......

Oh Henry thinks Daddy is hilarious........but for some reason Mommy doesn't think beer bottles are appropriate teething toys.  I know, I'm such a spoilsport..........
